ABOUT THE SHIMMER PROJECT

When you imagine a shimmer, it evokes the image of moonlight playing on the ocean’s surface, creating a mesmerising dance of light where two worlds collide. In our case, The Shimmer Project symbolises the convergence of two radiant forces; The Lighthouse and Mashed.

We have collaborated with The Lighthouse team to transform their collection of children’s books, authored by young talents from Toowoomba, into captivating Children’s Theatre stage plays. Our primary focus is to use these stage plays as a platform to raise awareness on important societal issues.

HOW IT WORKS

So, you’ve signed up for the Shimmer Project or want to sign up but need a little more information on how it runs? We gotchu…

  • Your child is enrolled for the Shimmer Project (which spreads across Terms 3 & 4)
  • Each week our team will work with our students, adapting from page to stage
  • Once adapted, casting & rehearsals will begin where our students start to see their story and characters come to life
  • Costumes & Set Pieces are added closer to the date of the performance
  • At the Book Launch of the children’s book titled  ‘Maverick and Melanie’, our students will perform the stage adaptation in front of a live audience at the Armitage Centre on Monday 4th November at 5:00 pm
  • The play will then become a resource available for purchase by theatre groups or primary schools and a portion of proceeds will go towards foundations on the subject matter to further their research and help others

CHILDREn'S book to be adapted for stage
